In honor of my birthday today, I'm going to depart from the usual subject matter of this blog, and celebrate life a little. So, here goes.
I'm thankful for...
1. My mom for enduring labor and giving me life. (Don't you think that moms deserve gifts on their kids' birthdays, too?)
2. My little boy who always has a song in his heart.
3. My little girl who always has a giggle to share.
4. My husband who knows how to celebrate.
5. My sisters who will be in my life longer than any of my best friends.
6. My brother for giving me a few early gray hairs and making me look wiser than I am. And for the laughs.
7. My dad for being a hard worker.
8. My favorite teachers.
9. My best friends, past, present and future. (A few names come to mind: Tina, Jessica, Melisa, Theresa, Annette, Marque, Heather, Nancy...)
10. Living in luxury, compared to the rest of the world.
11. American citizenship.
12. Home schooling.
13. My college education.
14. All the students I've ever had the privilege of teaching.
15. Pink.
16. Coconut cream pie.
17. Cell phones.
18. Crossroads Community Church.
19. Salvation through faith in Jesus. An amazing gift, indeed.
20. Computers and printers.
21. All my nieces and nephews, adorable every one!
22. My mother and father-in-law, two of the most generous people I know.
23. Books.
24. Electricity and hot running water.
25. My piano.
26. Photographs.
27. Angel food cake with caramel icing (my birthday cake).
28. Freedom.
29. Cul-de-sac living.
30. Magic Markers.
31. My bicycle.
32. Ledges State Park.
33. Bad stuff that has happened to make me better.
34. Everything that has happened that makes me who I am today, and the hope of a better tomorrow.
Here are a couple of verses that always help me return to sanity in a crazy world:
"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18a
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Here's wishing you a happy, thank-filled day today.
Blessings,
Mrs. Sherry
