Thank you to those who attended my NICHE conference workshop, Inspiring Young Writers.
Below is a list of resources I mentioned during the workshop. Enjoy!
www.sabine.k12.la.us: comprehensive website from Zwolle Public Elementary School listing lots of writing resources
www.teachersheart.net: find FREE mini-office ideas and printables here
www.organizedchristmas.com: find FREE journal jar printables here
www.angelfire.com: detailed help for using the 5-step writing process (use primarily with students in 3rd grade and up)
www.nwrel.org: details the 6 traits of good writing (use mostly with older students)
www.edinak12.mn.us: easy to use elementary version of the 6 traits for good writing
www.writeshop.com: one of my favorite "how to write" curricula available for purchase; this website also includes writing contests for young writers
Write Source by Houghton Mifflin: my favorite writers' handbooks (for High School: Writers INC)
www.hacwn.org: Heart of America Christian Writers Network; the organization I belong to out of Kansas City that hosts a great conference in November each year for "wannabes" and professionals alike
For more information about getting your work published, I recommend that you purchase Sally Stuart's Christian Writer's Market Guide or a secular Writer's Market Guide, usually available at Barnes and Noble.
If you have other questions regarding teaching composition, you may contact me through the comment section of this blog, or you may email me at info@sherryfiscella.com.
Also, as noted in my other workshop post below, if you need a speaker for an upcoming home school or church event, I'd love to hear from you. You can find a list of my speaking topics on my website at www.sherryfiscella.com.
Happy Home Schooling,
Mrs. Sherry
